Every effort has been made to go above and beyond what is normally accepted to create an environmentally friendly studio space that is truly unique and different in every aspect. We look forward to sharing The Daley Practice experience with you.
At the Daley Practice we teach you yoga in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar who developed a innovative approach to classical Hatha Yoga. Iyengar Yoga emphasizes alignment while developing strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance while being accessible to everyone regardless of age, ability, or physical limitations.
Whether you are looking to delve into a deeper more insightful practice or you have never tried yoga previously; at the Daley Practice excellence is our standard. Teaching yoga is a huge responsibility, thus all teachers at The Daley Practice hold the Iyengar Yoga Teachers Certification Mark; a sign of excellence, clarity, and depth of understanding. The ability to clearly demonstrate the postures, sharp observation skills, and effective teaching points are the marks of a certified Iyengar teacher.
The Rope Wall
An integral part of Iyengar Yoga is the rope wall used for “Yoga Kurunta”. “Kurunta means puppet and in Yoga Kurunta, one learns to manipulate oneself in the various yoga postures (asanas) by means of a suspended rope as if one were a puppet. There are many advantages to performing asanas with the use of ropes. More difficult asanas may be practiced with ease as the ropes can be used to help with balance, to provide traction for the spine and other joints, to adjust the alignment of asanas, and even to help elderly practitioners get up from and down to the floor for seated and supine postures.
Our studio is designed to be as green and environmentally friendly as possible.
We’ve used bamboo flooring throughout in place of traditional hardwood. Bamboo unlike oak which may take as long as 30 years to fully mature is clocked as the fastest growing plant on Earth. It can be continuously re-harvested every 3 years, without causing damage to the plant system and surrounding environment. It is also believed that if bamboo were planted on a mass basis it could completely reverse the effects of global warming in just 6 years.
LED lighting and dimmers are used to save energy consumption. LEDs use at least 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than traditional incandescent lighting.
Haiku® ceiling fans by Bigass Fans® have been awarded the worlds most efficient ceiling fans and holds the top ENERGY STAR® rankings. They keep the yoga room cool and comfortable even on the warmest of days.
We have Dyson Airblade V® hand dryers to prevent the wasteful use of paper towels for hand drying.
